A serious accident happened on Tuesday morning at the Kharadi bypass intersection on Lohegaon-Wagholi Road. A cement mixer truck crashed into three vehicles during the busy morning time. This led to four people losing their lives and seven others getting hurt. The crash took place around 8:45 AM when the truck's brakes failed. It hit two motorcycles and a car before it flipped over. Local officials say this sad event shows how important it's to keep roads safe in the quickly growing Lohegaon area.

The main victim was Rajesh Sharma, who was 34 years old. He died at the scene when his motorcycle got crushed under the truck. The other victims included Priya Desai (28), her mother Sunita Desai (52), and their driver Amit Patil (39). The seven injured people were rushed to Columbia Asia Hospital. Three of them are in very serious condition with bad injuries.

Investigations reveal that the truck driver, Mohammad Qureshi (42), had been driving for 14 hours straight, which is more than the allowed 8 hours. The police have charged him and his company, Sterling Construction Limited, with being careless and breaking safety rules. This intersection has had 12 major accidents in the last six months, with many involving big trucks.

Local people have complained about the dangerous situation at this junction. They say it has poor visibility, not enough signs, and many speeding cars. In response, the Pune Municipal Corporation has announced new measures, like putting up speed cameras and better traffic lights.

The accident has led authorities to check all major intersections in the Lohegaon-Wagholi area to improve safety. Traffic in this area has grown by 65% in the last two years, but road improvements haven't kept up.

The Municipal Commissioner has called for an urgent meeting with traffic experts and city planners to find both quick and long-term solutions to make the roads safer for everyone.
