In Pune, a sad event happened at Westbrook International School. A 15-year-old boy named Arjun Mehta is accused of stabbing his classmate, Rohan Shah, with a kitchen knife during the morning assembly. This terrible incident took place at 8:45 AM and sadly, Rohan lost his life.

This is the third time this year that a serious problem has happened in schools in Maharashtra, so the government wants to make schools safer.

Police found out that Arjun planned the attack. They've video showing him entering the school at 7:30 AM with the knife hidden in his bag. The police officer, Rajesh Kumar, said that the two boys had a fight earlier about schoolwork and things they wrote on social media.

Many people are upset with the school for not keeping students safe. Reports say that 68% of private schools in Maharashtra don't have good systems to find weapons or enough trained security staff. The Principal, Dr. Priya Sharma, said they'll now have metal detectors, more security guards, and counseling for students.

Rohan's parents are suing the school for ₹5 crore, saying the school didn't do enough to protect students. They also mentioned that Arjun had received warnings for being aggressive before, but nothing serious happened.

The Education Department in Maharashtra is making new rules to improve safety in schools. They'll check students' mental health, put up CCTV cameras, and start anti-bullying programs in all schools.

Arjun has been taken to the Juvenile Justice Board for help and evaluation. Officials are looking into this case closely, and they'll report back in 30 days to see if more safety measures are needed in schools.
