Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi Metro Likely Delayed Until 2026

The Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi Metro project is almost done, with about 85% of the work finished. However, the opening of this metro line has been delayed and will now happen in 2026 instead of September 2025. The company in charge has asked for more time until December 2025 to finish testing, which will take two to two-and-a-half months.

The project team has faced some problems that slowed down the construction. One big issue is the heavy traffic on the roads and the need to move utilities like electricity and water lines. A very important part of the project, the flyover at University Chowk, is expected to be finished by April or May. This needs to be done before the metro can start running.

This metro line is 23 kilometers long and will have 23 stations. These stations are being built in key areas where many people live and work. Right now, 12 of these stations are actively under construction, with workers trying to finish them on time.

Although 83-85% of the project is complete, there are still some important tasks left. The extra time will help ensure that the metro is safe and works well. The project managers say that while the delay might be annoying, it’s necessary to make sure everything is perfect for passengers.

The new timeline is a smart choice to handle all the technical and practical issues that have come up. Once the metro is ready, it will help connect important places and may reduce traffic jams in the area.

When finished, this metro project will be a big improvement for public transport in the region, even though it will take a little longer to complete.
