On April 14, 2025, Pune will celebrate the 134th birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Because many people are expected to join the celebration, there will be some changes to the roads in the city.
The Pune Traffic Police said that Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road, and Tilak Road will have new routes from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. This will affect about 125,000 people who travel these roads every day.
If you usually drive on Laxmi Road, you’ll need to take Kumthekar Road and Shivaji Road instead. There will be special parking areas at Mandai and Kasba Peth for about 1,500 cars.
The police will have 45 officers at three checkpoints to help keep traffic moving and to help in case of emergencies.
Public buses will also change during the celebrations. The PMPML will add 75 extra buses to help more people get to the events. These buses will run on special routes and come every 15 minutes from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
There will be safe walking areas near important places, like the Dr. Ambedkar Memorial and the Central Library. The police will set up 12 entry points with security checks and first aid facilities to keep everyone safe.
Emergency vehicles will have special lanes to help them get through. There will also be five medical teams ready to help if someone needs it.
The traffic control room will have 35 new CCTV cameras to watch the roads closely.
Finally, you can use the ‘Pune Traffic Live’ app to see real-time traffic updates and find out about parking and crowd sizes.
After 10:00 PM, the traffic changes will be removed, and everything should go back to normal by midnight.
