RPF Pune Recovers and Returns Lost Bag Worth Rs 3.74 Lakh

On April 12, 2025, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Pune did a great job by finding a lost red handbag that was worth ₹3.74 lakh. The bag belonged to a passenger named Babita Mahadev Sonawane and was found near the air-conditioned coach of train No. 18520, which was going from Pune to Solapur.

The search for the bag began when the Control Room at the station got a call about it being missing. Then, SIPF S.D. Mohbe gave the job to HC Milind Ingle to look for the bag. The RPF acted quickly to help keep passengers safe and protect their belongings.

When they opened the recovered handbag, they found some very valuable things inside. These included a gold bangle that weighed 10 grams and was worth ₹70,000, gold earrings worth ₹49,000, and cash amounting to ₹1,36,500. All these things added up to a total of ₹3.74 lakh!

As part of their plan called “Operation Amanat,” the RPF made sure to check everything properly before giving the bag back. Dattatraya Mahadev Sonawane, who’s Babita’s relative, showed the right papers to prove that the bag belonged to them. They made sure to have witnesses present when they returned the bag to ensure everything was fair.

This successful recovery shows how committed the RPF in Pune is to keeping passengers safe and looking after their belongings at the railway station. It also highlights the importance of their careful work when handling lost items that are very valuable.
