FIR Filed Against Youths for Forcing NZ Tourist to Use Abusive Marathi Words

A serious incident happened at Sinhgad Fort in Pune, where some local young people were reported to have bothered a tourist from New Zealand named Luke. This took place on April 6, 2025. They tried to make him say bad words in Marathi, which is a local language.

Luke shared his experience on his YouTube channel in a video called “This Fort in India is Insane.” In the video, he showed how the group surrounded him and pressured him to speak in a disrespectful way. This made many people worried about how tourists are treated in India.

The Pune Rural Police have taken action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against the young people involved. They’re looking into the case under the law, which protects people from hurtful behavior and threats. Police are also checking the video closely to find out who those young people are.

Many people on social media have criticized what happened and are asking for better safety rules for tourists visiting historical places. In response, local officials have decided to make Sinhgad Fort safer by increasing patrols and putting up more cameras.

Experts in tourism say that such incidents can harm India’s reputation as a travel destination. They believe it can make tourists feel unsafe and affect the money that comes from tourism.

The local government has apologized to Luke and promised to take quick action against those responsible. This case is important for making sure all visitors are treated with respect and feel safe at cultural sites in India.
