Pune School Teacher Suspended for Faking Attendance Signatures

A teacher in Pune has been suspended because she wasn’t honest about her work. Bharti Deepak More, who worked at Maharana Pratap School, was found to be faking attendance records. This means she was pretending to be present at school when she was not. Instead of teaching her students, she hired someone else without permission to take her classes. She paid the substitute a fixed payment amount to cover her classes during her absence.

The problem was discovered during a surprise check by officials on March 21, 2025. The CEO, Gajanan Shinde, and Administrative Officer Rajkumar Bamane went to the school after hearing complaints about More not coming to work often. They found her signature in the attendance book was fake, and they saw the unauthorized substitute teaching her students.

Maharana Pratap School is one of three schools in Bhor Municipality, with a total of 271 students and 11 teachers. More’s actions were very serious because they showed she wasn’t acting like a good teacher. The school has been dealing with declining enrollment like many other Marathi schools in the region. The latest education sector report shows similar issues affecting multiple schools across Pune. After she didn’t respond well to a notice asking for an explanation, she was suspended from her job on March 26, 2025.

The reasons for her suspension include not showing up for work, lying about her attendance, and putting students’ learning at risk by allowing someone unqualified to teach. This case is part of a bigger issue in Pune, where there have been other cases of teachers doing wrong things.

While she’s suspended, More must stay at the Bhor Municipal Council office and can’t leave without permission. The length of her suspension isn’t clear yet because officials are still investigating what happened and how it affected the students.

This situation shows how important it’s to keep good standards in schools in Maharashtra. Officials say that faking documents is a serious mistake and could lead to more actions against More in the future. They’re looking into how this has affected the students’ education and what further steps should be taken.
