2025 Monsoon Expected to Be Above Normal: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has shared exciting news about the 2025 monsoon season! They predict that the rainfall will be strong, with about 105% of the average expected. This means we can expect around 91.35 centimeters of rain from June to September, which is more than the usual average of 87 centimeters from the years 1971 to 2020.

The IMD has studied the weather closely and found that there’s a 59% chance of having more rain than normal. This means that in some areas, we might’ve even more than 104% of the average rainfall. However, there’s a small error margin of ±5%, which means predicting weather can sometimes be tricky.

Most parts of India are expected to get a lot of rain, but some areas mightn’t get enough. Places like Northwest India, Northeast India, and the South Peninsular region could face less rain. So, it’s important for people in these areas to prepare well and manage their water resources carefully.

To make sure the forecast is accurate, the IMD will provide another update in the last week of May 2025. This update will include new information about the weather conditions, which will help everyone plan better.

This forecast is very important for farmers and for managing our water resources. Even though most places will have good rain, we still need to pay attention to where the rain is falling. This helps in planning for crops and managing water supplies.
