marathwada may experience surplus

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) says that the Marathwada region is likely to get a lot of rain during the upcoming Southwest Monsoon season. They expect the rainfall to be around 105% of what’s usually seen. This means farmers will need to change how they grow their crops to deal with the extra rain.

The IMD’s weather map shows Marathwada in dark blue, which means there’s a good chance of above-normal rainfall. This can affect what crops farmers choose to plant, when they plant them, and how they manage water for their fields.

Last year, Marathwada received a lot of rain, about 1252.1 millimeters from June to September, which was 26% more than usual. This shows that the region has dealt with heavy rain before, but it’s still important for everyone to be ready for more rain this year.

The weather forecast for Maharashtra as a whole also suggests more rain than normal, especially in Marathwada and the southern parts of the state. This means many areas could see similar heavy rain.

Currently, the weather patterns known as El Niño and Indian Ocean Dipole are neutral, which usually helps bring good monsoon rains to India. These conditions, along with the IMD’s studies, support their prediction of heavy rainfall.

The IMD’s forecast helps farmers, water managers, and local leaders plan for the rainy season. They can use this information to make sure they’re ready and can manage resources well.

While the extra rain can help crops, it can also create challenges, so good planning is very important.
