The Bhide bridge in Pune will be closed from April 20 to June 6, 2024. The bridge is being closed so that workers can build a new foot overbridge that will connect Peth area to the Metro station. During these 47 days, people won’t be able to use this bridge.
If you need to cross the river during this time, you can use other bridges like Z-bridge, Lakdi Pool, or Bal Gandharva bridge. Both walking and driving on Bhide bridge won’t be allowed until the work is finished. The roads near the river will stay open as usual.
The new foot overbridge is being built to help people easily walk from Narayan Peth to the Deccan Gymkhana Metro station. The workers will take about two months to complete this new bridge, which will be built above the existing Bhide bridge.
Another similar bridge is also being built to connect Shaniwar Peth to the Bal Gandharva Metro station. This bridge is almost ready and people will be able to use it soon.
These new bridges are being built to make it easier for people to reach Metro stations from their homes. Once these bridges are ready, people can safely walk to the Metro stations without worrying about traffic on the roads.
Even though the bridge closure might cause some problems for a short time, it will help make Pune’s transportation better in the long run. The new bridges will make it easier for people to use public transport and walk safely. Until the work is complete, people should plan their travel using other routes.
These improvements are part of Pune’s ongoing efforts to create a modern transportation network that better serves its growing population.
