Pune Cantonment Proposes Doubling FSI for Civil Areas

The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has come up with a new plan to double the Floor Space Index (FSI) from 1.0 to 2.0 in its civil areas. This change will affect more than 2,500 properties in six different areas. FSI tells how much space can be built on a piece of land.

In a recent meeting, all PCB members, including the CEO and other important officers, agreed to this new plan. They think this change will help solve many building-related problems in the area and make life better for people living there.

Before this plan can start working, it needs approval from two important offices – first from the Defence Estates office in Southern Command, and then from the main Defence office in Delhi. This shows that such big changes need careful checking.

If approved, property owners can build twice as much on their land than before. For example, if someone could earlier build one floor, now they can build two floors. This will help people make better use of their land and build more rooms.

The PCB wants to make sure that while allowing more construction, they also keep the area neat and organized. They’re being careful so that new buildings don’t create problems for others and follow all safety rules.

This new plan is very important for Pune Cantonment’s future growth. If it works well, other cantonment areas in India might also follow this example. Many people are now waiting to see if this plan gets approved by the higher offices.

The initiative aligns with Pune’s broader vision to improve urban transportation infrastructure while managing population density in key areas.
