Police have taken strong action against dangerous criminal Tipu Pathan and his seven friends in Hadapsar, Maharashtra. They’ve been caught under a special law called MCOCA, which helps police fight big criminal groups. These criminals were forcing shopkeepers to give them money by scaring them.
Deputy Commissioner Sunil Kumar’s team found that between January and March 2023, Pathan’s group took nearly ₹2.8 crore from scared businessmen. They used fake companies to hide this money, making it hard for police to find it.
The police found that Pathan was already involved in 12 other crimes like beating people and trying to kill them. Many people who were troubled by his group have come forward to tell police about their problems.
Pathan started his criminal activities in 2015, mainly targeting people in the building business. Most of his victims were small shop owners, some were builders, and a few were contractors who did construction work.
More than 125 police officers worked together to catch these criminals. They searched 13 different places at the same time and found lots of things like houses, cars, and cash worth ₹4.3 crore that belonged to the gang.
Under the MCOCA law, these criminals might go to jail for many years, maybe even for life. The police have made a very strong case against them with lots of proof. The case will start in court within a month, and a special judge will look at it.
