Tension is high in Pune’s Paud village after someone broke a very old and special idol in the Someshwar Temple. The temple, which is about 35 kilometers from Pune city, was attacked late at night on Tuesday. Because of this, the police have put strict rules in the village, where about 12,000 people live. People can’t gather in groups of more than five persons.
The police are working hard to keep everyone safe. They’ve sent 87 police workers to the village – 12 officers are standing at important road crossings, and 75 police constables are walking around the village to check if everything is okay. For the next three days, no one can take out religious rallies or have big meetings.
The bad people who broke into the temple climbed over its east wall at around 2:15 AM. They broke the main idol and three other small holy items worth ₹12 lakhs. The temple’s CCTV camera saw three people coming in at 2:07 AM and running away at 2:23 AM, but their faces weren’t clear.
A special team of 15 police officers is trying to find out who did this wrong thing. They’ve talked to 47 people who might’ve seen something and are looking at videos from 23 cameras near the temple. They’ve also found 17 things from the temple that might help them catch the bad people.
Many religious groups are angry about what happened. Twenty-seven different groups have said this was very wrong. The government will give ₹5 lakhs to fix the temple. They’re also putting new security guards at 12 other old temples nearby. The police are talking to 34 community leaders to make sure everyone stays peaceful.
This is the first time something like this has happened in Paud village, though seven similar cases happened in nearby areas in the last three years. The police have started a phone number where people can call anytime if they know something about this case. In two days, they got 127 calls, and 23 of these calls had helpful information about the case. The Pune Crime News portal continues to provide real-time updates on this developing situation.
