College Student Arrested in Pune Over Controversial Social Media Post

A college student was arrested by Kondhwa Police in Pune on May 9, 2025, after posting something wrong on social media during a time when India and Pakistan weren’t getting along well.

Police Constable Subhash Jaranade found the bad post, which made people talk about what should and shouldn’t be shared on social media during tough times between countries.

The police started looking into the matter as soon as they saw the post that could make people angry. They caught the student at night. The police said they’re keeping a close watch on social media because during such times, bad messages can create problems among people.

When the case went to court, government lawyers asked First-Class Judicial Magistrate Dr. GR Dornalpalle to let them keep the student in police custody. They wanted to check the student’s mobile phone properly to find out more about what happened.

After listening to everyone, Magistrate Dornalpalle said the police could keep the student for five days. During this time, the police will check the student’s phone, social media accounts, and messages to see if other people were also involved in sharing such posts.

This case shows how police are now watching what people post on social media, especially when two countries are having problems. The police cyber team is looking extra carefully at social media to stop people from sharing things that could cause trouble or harm the country’s safety.

The police in Maharashtra are now checking social media more than before. They want to make sure no one shares messages that could make people fight or create problems when countries aren’t getting along well.

The police are still trying to find out how many people saw the bad post and what problems it might cause for peace in the area.
