Utkarsh Mahadev Shingane, a 20-year-old medical student from AIIMS Bhopal, was found dead in a bathroom at AFMC Pune hostel on May 12, 2025. Before his death, he sent a sad message to his family on WhatsApp, which police say was a suicide note.

They also found a knife there, which police say he bought from an online shopping website. Doctors who checked his body said there were no signs that someone else killed him.
Utkarsh was getting help for depression at AIIMS Bhopal. His doctors said he was very worried about his studies and felt a lot of pressure to do well in his medical course. The tough medical course and the need to get good marks made him very sad and stressed.
