Aadhaar centers in Pune are facing big problems as many machines aren’t working properly. Around 40 centers have broken fingerprint scanners, cameras, and eye-scanning machines. Out of 212 Aadhaar kits given earlier, only 175 are working now.
The government said in February that they’d give 4,000 new Aadhaar kits. But they’re checking each kit very carefully, so only 2,000 kits have been sent till now. The old machines from 2014 are finding it hard to handle Maharashtra’s 12.8 crore Aadhaar card holders.
Many machine problems have been reported by Aadhaar center workers in Pune. Even though the government is giving more money to Aadhaar workers and special rewards for enrolling children, the main problem of broken machines is still there.
The slow delivery of new machines and old machines breaking down has caused long waiting lines at centers. Many people have to wait for days to get their Aadhaar work done because the government is taking time to check new machines properly.
Every day, hundreds of people are returning home without getting their Aadhaar work done. The working machines are being used more than usual, which might make them break down faster. The government knows about these problems but fixing them is taking time.
The whole situation shows that we need better ways to take care of these machines. We need quick delivery of new machines and better ways to check if all machines are working fine. This will help people get their Aadhaar work done easily and quickly.
While Pune’s transportation infrastructure continues to evolve, the current Aadhaar service disruptions are making it difficult for residents to update their identification documents needed for various travel-related services.
