CM Fadnavis Unveils Vision for New Pune State Planning Model

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a new plan for Pune city’s growth. Instead of following the old PMRDA Development Plan, the city will now use a Town Planning (TP) Scheme. The biggest change in this plan is that all new roads will be at least 12 meters wide, which is much bigger than the current roads.

Right now, many roads in Pune are only 6 or 9 meters wide, which causes a lot of traffic problems. The new plan will make sure that all future roads are wider, making it easier for cars, buses, and emergency vehicles like ambulances to move around the city. This will help the growing number of people who live in Pune.

The government got this idea from other big cities like Ahmedabad and Lucknow, where similar plans have worked well. By canceling the old plan and starting with this new one, the government wants to show that it’s serious about making Pune a better city to live in.

PMRDA, which is the group in charge of Pune’s development, is leading this new project. They believe that wider roads are very important for the city’s future. The old plans didn’t focus enough on making good roads, but this new plan will fix that problem.

The TP Scheme is different from old planning methods because it looks at all of the city’s needs together. It doesn’t just focus on roads but also thinks about how to make the whole city grow in a proper way. This will help Pune handle more people and businesses in the future without creating problems.

With these changes, Maharashtra government wants to show other cities how to plan better. The new 12-meter wide roads will make it easier for everyone to travel, and emergency services like fire trucks can reach places faster. This makes Pune one of the first cities in India to try such a modern way of city planning.

The city’s transportation landscape continues to evolve with these new development initiatives aimed at creating a more efficient urban infrastructure.
