Five Arrested in Pune for Running ₹28 Lakh Counterfeit Currency Racket

Five people, including two women, have been caught by Pune Police for making fake money worth ₹28 lakh. The police found them printing fake notes of ₹200 and ₹500 in a secret place.

The main person behind this crime was a student studying engineering in Yerawada. He used special printers and machines to make fake notes that looked very much like real ones. The police think more people might be involved in this crime and are looking for them.

When the police raided their hideout, they found fake money worth ₹28 lakh and real money worth ₹2.04 lakh. They also took away many things like printers, internet boxes, special inks, and chemicals that were used to make the fake notes.

These bad people had a simple but wrong plan. They’d give two fake notes in exchange for one real note. This means if someone gave them a real ₹500 note, they’d give back fake notes worth ₹1,000. Many people fell for this trick, and the fake money spread in the market.

The engineering student used his knowledge of computers and machines to make the fake notes look real. The notes were so well-made that normal people and small shopkeepers couldn’t tell the difference between real and fake notes. The police are working with a bank to find ways to stop such crimes.

All five people who were caught are now in police custody. The police are trying to find out how many fake notes they made and where all these notes were used. They also want to know if more people helped them in this crime. This case shows us how some people use their knowledge in the wrong way, and we must be careful while handling money.

The Pune Crime News database continues to track similar currency counterfeiting cases across the city.
