The Maharashtra government has given more time for vehicle owners to put High-Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) on their vehicles. The new deadline is April 30, 2024. This is good news for many people who couldn't meet the old deadline of March 31. The government wants to make sure that all vehicles have these plates to improve safety and make registration easier.
In Pune, many people are still having trouble getting their HSRPs. There are about 2.3 million vehicles in the city that still need to apply for these plates. So far, only 32,388 vehicles have received their HSRPs, and 144,684 applications are still being processed. This shows that a lot of people need more time to complete this task.
To help vehicle owners, the government has set up 124 fitment centers in Pune. They plan to add more centers to make it easier for people to get their HSRPs. The cost for getting these plates is ₹450 for two-wheelers, ₹500 for three-wheelers, and ₹745 for four-wheelers, not including GST. This pricing helps keep things fair and stops dealers from overcharging.
The extension of the deadline shows that the government understands the problems people are facing. With so many vehicles still not compliant, the extra time will help many owners get their plates without rushing. The fitment centers are there to help speed up the process.
Vehicle owners should take this chance and get their HSRPs soon. If they wait until after the new deadline, they might face penalties. Since there are many applications in Pune, fitment centers might be busy in the coming weeks.
