Maharashtra has a new rule about High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) that all vehicle owners must follow by the end of 2024. This means that everyone who owns a car or bike needs to get these special plates put on their vehicles. It doesn't matter when the vehicle was made or what type it is. You need to get these plates from official vendors approved by the Maharashtra Transport Department.

To get your HSRP, you must show some important papers. These include your Vehicle Registration Certificate and proof of identity. You can apply for the plates online or by visiting the authorized centers in person. The cost is ₹850 for bikes and ₹1,350 for cars and commercial vehicles. There's also an extra charge of ₹100 for stickers that show the type of fuel your vehicle uses.

If you want to sell or transfer your vehicle to someone else, you must have the HSRP installed first. If you don't have it, you can't complete the transfer, and you'll have to pay a fine of ₹1,000. This rule helps keep track of all vehicles in Maharashtra.

If your HSRP gets damaged or stolen, you need to follow a specific process. First, go to the nearest police station to report it. Then, you can apply for a replacement through an authorized vendor. Keep all the documents you receive to show that you're following the rules.

HSRPs have many security features, like a special hologram and permanent identification numbers, which help prevent cheating or tampering. This new system will help keep vehicles safe and make sure that all cars and bikes are registered correctly.
