On Tuesday, April 8, many neighborhoods in Pune faced water supply problems. However, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) quickly fixed a broken water line between Khadakwasla Dam and Warje Water Works. The repair took around two hours, followed by four to five hours of testing to ensure everything was working well.

The water supply issue affected several areas, including Warje, Shivane Industrial area, Karvenagar, Shivajinagar, Gokhale Nagar, Bhosale Nagar, Pashan, Baner, Balewadi, Kothrud, and parts of Khadki. Khadakwasla Dam is very important for Pune, providing water to over 3.8 million people through big pipes.

To solve the water supply problems, PMC has set aside ₹40 lakh to repair 40 kilometers of water lines. This means they’re spending about ₹97,000 for every kilometer to fix leaks and improve the system. This shows that the PMC is serious about keeping the water supply in good shape.

The repair work comes at a time when people are worried about water quality. There have been health issues linked to dirty water, which has made PMC increase water testing and monitoring. They’re taking steps to make sure the water is safe for everyone.

The water supply system works through Warje Water Works and Holkar Water Works, which clean the water before sending it out. PMC is also working on projects to fix old pipes and reduce leaks to make sure water supply is reliable.

When there are water supply problems, it affects not just homes but also businesses in the city. The state government and PMC are working together to manage water resources better and teach people about saving water.

Fixing this water line is a big step toward making sure everyone has access to water.
