residential rally over construction concerns

People living in Kothrud area will hold a peaceful rally on April 22, 2025, to show their unhappiness with MIT-WPU’s big building projects. The rally will start from Sigma One Society and end at MIT-WPU’s Globe building.

The residents are worried because MIT-WPU is building many new structures at the same time. There’s construction near Abhishilpa and Perinshree societies, digging work behind Sigma One Society, and plans to rebuild the design school area. People fear these projects will create problems for the area’s roads, water supply, and daily life.

A group called CF@11, led by Sandeep Bhadkamkar, Ramchandra Nirmal, and Mandar Kelkar, is organizing the rally. They’ve asked everyone to wear white clothes and carry posters. People should bring water bottles and caps to protect from sun. They’ll also wear black ribbons to show their protest.

The rally is being held because residents feel MIT-WPU is growing too fast without thinking about how it affects nearby houses and families. They’re worried about traffic jams, safety of people walking on roads, and damage to trees and environment.

The organizers have chosen a time that won’t disturb college classes. They want to talk peacefully with MIT-WPU leaders about their problems and find good solutions for everyone.

CF@11 has made a list of all problems caused by construction work. Through this rally, Kothrud residents hope MIT-WPU will listen to their concerns and work together to make things better for both college and nearby areas.

The demonstration is part of ongoing Pune local news coverage focusing on community development issues.
