The Maharashtra State Transport Department has decided to give more time for people to get their High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) for their vehicles. The new deadline is now April 30, 2025. This change is because many vehicle owners are having trouble getting these plates, especially in big cities like Pune, where around 25 lakh vehicles still need HSRP.
So far, the number of applications for HSRP in Pune is very low, with only about 15,000 to 16,000 people applying. Even more worrying is that only 7,000 to 8,000 vehicles have actually received their new plates. This shows there's a big gap between how many plates are needed and how many are being installed.
To make things easier, the Transport Department has created a zoning system to organize the work better. Pune RTO is in Zone One, which means it will get special attention to help people get their HSRP faster.
The extra time given by the department is to help everyone understand the importance of getting these plates. They aim to improve vehicle identification and stop fake plates from being used.
This new deadline is important for both vehicle owners and the people in charge of the HSRP installations. It gives everyone a chance to complete the process without rushing.
The Transport Department still wants people to register early. They remind everyone that even though they've more time, it's important to follow the rules and get the HSRP without waiting until the last minute.
