The Maharashtra government has increased the Ready Reckoner (RR) rates by an average of 4.39% for the financial year 2025-26. This means that the prices of properties are going up. In cities, the rates went up by 5.95%, while in rural areas, the increase is 3.36%. These new rates will start on April 1, 2025.

The rise in RR rates will change how much people pay for buying and selling properties. This affects the stamp duty, which is a tax people pay when they buy a house. The government was thinking about a bigger increase of 10%, but they decided to go with a smaller rise instead. This shows they want to be careful and think about everyone involved in the property market.

Different cities are seeing different rate increases. Solapur has the highest rise at 10.17%. Thane’s rates went up by 7.72%, and Navi Mumbai saw a 6.75% increase. Pimpri-Chinchwad’s rates rose by 6.69%. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the increase is smaller at 3.39%. This shows that each city has its own property market conditions.

The government knows that urban and rural areas grow in different ways. The higher increase in cities shows more demand for homes there. The smaller increase in rural areas helps keep homes affordable for people living there.

These changes will affect how much people pay to buy or sell their homes. The RR rates help decide how much stamp duty and other fees people have to pay when they buy a property.
