On March 11, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) checked 20 ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants in Pune and nearby areas. They found that 18 of these plants were causing serious pollution and ordered them to close right away. Many local people had complained about too much dust in the air, which made the MPCB take action to protect the environment.

During the inspection, the MPCB noticed that these plants weren't controlling the dust coming from their mixing processes. Some plants were even operating without the required pollution control systems. This meant that there was a lot of dust and dirt in the air, which can be harmful to people's health. The MPCB found that these plants weren't following the environmental rules, so they'd to act quickly.

In addition to closing 18 plants, the MPCB also gave instructions to four more plants and imposed fines by taking away their bank guarantees. This shows that the MPCB is serious about stopping pollution and ensuring that companies follow the rules.

The MPCB made it clear that they don't want to stop construction work. Instead, they want to make sure that everyone follows environmental rules. They've told the plant owners to fix their problems and improve their pollution control methods so they can reopen.

This action by the MPCB is important because it shows that protecting the environment is a top priority in Maharashtra. It highlights the need for cleaner and safer practices in the construction industry.

The MPCB will keep watching these plants to ensure they only restart operations after proving they're following all environmental rules. This way, they're helping to keep the air clean and safe for everyone.
