PMC to Hire Private Security Agency for Civic Buildings at ₹150 Crore

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is facing a big problem. They need nearly 300 more security guards to keep the city safe. To solve this issue, PMC has decided to hire a private security company with a contract worth ₹150 crore for three years. This is different from before when they used to hire security guards every year.

Right now, PMC has only 350 security guards working, but they need 650. This means they’re only using 54% of the guards they should have. Because of this shortage, PMC needs to act quickly to protect city buildings and services effectively.

In the past year, PMC hired 1,565 security guards from private agencies to help with security. The new three-year contract will make things easier. Instead of renewing contracts every year, PMC will have one long-term agreement, which means they’ll have steady security services.

The security guards will protect many places in the city, like the main PMC building, hospitals, schools, parks, crematoriums, and auditoriums. This plan will help create a better and safer environment for everyone.

By choosing a long-term contract, PMC is trying to be more organized. This will help them work better with the security guards and reduce the hassle of managing many small contracts.

Spending ₹150 crore shows how serious PMC is about improving safety in the city. This plan will help them modernize how they work and keep public properties safe with professional security services.

The initiative aligns with the city’s broader efforts to address Pune crime news and enhance public safety measures across various locations.
