As temperatures rise to record levels in our area, health officials are warning everyone about the dangers of heatstroke. In 12 big cities, the temperature is expected to go over 95°F (35°C) until Friday. To help people stay safe, the Public Medical Commission (PMC) has set up 47 cooling centers where you can go to stay cool. These centers will be open every day from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

It's very important to take care of yourself when it gets hot. You should drink 8-10 glasses of water every day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Try to do outdoor activities before 10:00 AM or after 4:00 PM when the sun isn't as strong. Also, wearing light-colored, loose clothes and putting on sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every two hours can help protect you from the heat.

Medical reports show that heatstroke cases have gone up by 27% compared to last year, with 312 cases reported just last week. People over 65 years old, those with health problems, or those taking certain medicines are at greater risk. If someone has heatstroke and doesn't get help, it can be very serious, with a high chance of death.

The PMC has found that humidity levels are around 68%, making it feel even hotter outside. You need to watch out for signs of heatstroke, like a very high body temperature, fast heartbeat, feeling dizzy, or confusion. Since Monday, there have been 156% more calls related to heat problems.

Local authorities are following a plan to respond to the heat. Right now, we're at level two of this plan. You can check the PMC's app or call their hotline for the latest temperature updates and locations of cooling centers.

Health officials believe this hot weather will last for about 96 hours, but it could go on longer. They also urge you to check on older neighbors and to keep pets indoors during the hottest parts of the day. Stay safe and cool!
