Pune Among Hottest

Pune is facing a really hot April this year. The temperatures in the city have gone over 40°C, with Lohegaon being the hottest at 42.2°C. Other places like Pashan and Shivajinagar are also very warm, reaching 40.7°C and 40.2°C. This is much hotter than what we usually expect in April.

The reason for this heat is the clear sky and dry weather. Also, the growth of buildings and construction in Pune makes it even hotter. Many tall buildings create a “heat island” effect, where certain areas become much warmer than others.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says that we should be ready for even higher temperatures in the next few days. This is the first time this season that Pune has recorded temperatures over 40°C, which is quite unusual.

These hot temperatures aren’t just a one-time thing. They show a bigger change in the climate that’s affecting Pune. In places with many buildings and less green space, like Lohegaon, the heat is more intense.

This rise in temperature can cause problems for people’s health, energy use, and city services. It’s important for city planners to think about how to handle these rising temperatures in the future.

The data from different weather stations show how serious the heat wave is. Understanding this heat is important as Pune deals with the changes in its climate.
