A couple from Pune, who are on holiday in Srinagar, are asking other tourists not to cancel their Kashmir trips after an attack in Pahalgam hurt two people on Tuesday.
Mr. Amit and Mrs. Priya Deshmukh, who’ve been in Srinagar for eight days, are working with local police to help tourists feel safe. They’re using their social media accounts to tell people about safety rules and share updates about the situation in Kashmir.
Numbers from Kashmir’s Tourism Department show that more people are visiting Kashmir this year. Tourist numbers have gone up by 43% compared to last year. The department has opened help centers at 15 places where tourists can get help any time of the day.
After the Pahalgam incident, police have made security stronger at tourist spots. They’ve put more police officers at checkpoints and installed new cameras at important places. They’ve also added 150 new tourism police officers who know how to help tourists.
The Deshmukhs have gotten support from hotel owners and travel companies. Together, they’ve made a team of 45 people who are ready to help tourists 24 hours a day if they need any help or have questions.
The government says tourist safety is very important. They’ve made a special security plan to keep tourists safe. Most tours are going on as planned, and emergency help can reach tourists within 15 minutes if needed. These safety steps show that Kashmir is still a good place for tourists to visit.
Pune local news updates indicate growing community support for the Deshmukhs’ initiative to maintain tourism confidence in Kashmir.
