Pune has seen some light rain recently, with 2.4mm of rainfall recorded over a 24-hour period ending Thursday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that this rain was spread out across different parts of the city. Right now, the monsoon is a bit weak, but meteorologists believe that rain will pick up again in the next few weeks. Pune’s total rainfall since June 1 is 432.6mm, which is 12% less than what’s normally expected for this time.

In Pune, the temperature varies in different areas. For example, Shivajinagar had a high of 29.2°C and a low of 22.1°C, while Lohegaon was a little warmer with a high of 30.1°C and a low of 22.8°C. The humidity levels have been between 78% and 85%, making the weather feel a bit uncomfortable, even with the light rain. The IMD says these weather conditions will likely continue through the weekend.

The rainfall amounts have been different in various parts of Pune. Western Pune received 3.1mm of rain, while eastern areas got 1.8mm. Local authorities are managing water levels in reservoirs to ensure there’s enough water supply for everyone in the city.

The Khadakwasla dam is currently 87.3% full, which is good news for Pune’s 7.2 million residents. The IMD has started using advanced radar systems to watch the weather closely. They predict a 67% chance of more light showers, especially in the early morning and late evening.

Farmers are advised to keep an eye on the rain patterns. Although the current rainfall is okay for their kharif crops, they might need to use extra water if necessary. Most areas have enough soil moisture at about 65-70%, which is good for crops.
