Pune Police have caught a man named Harshvardhan Chaudhary for cheating two people of Rs 12 lakh. He took money from them by saying he’d open an Animal Birth Control center, but instead used the money to buy a car for himself.
Chaudhary told the victims a fake story about how a big investor had taken back Rs 45 lakh that was promised for the animal center. He used this story to trick people into giving him money for the project, which he claimed was for helping animals.
To get the money, Chaudhary asked the victims to send money to his mother’s bank account. He told them this was only for a short time until he could arrange other funds. The victims trusted him because they thought the project would help animals in their city.
When the victims found out that Chaudhary had used their money to buy a car, they went to ask him to return their money. But instead of returning the money, he threatened them. After this, the scared victims went to the police station to file a complaint against him.
The police are now checking if Chaudhary has cheated more people in the same way. They’re looking at his bank accounts, phone calls, and messages to find out if there are other people who gave him money. The police think there might be more victims who haven’t come forward yet.
Right now, Chaudhary is in police lockup for five days. During this time, the police will ask him many questions and collect proof of his cheating. The police have also told people to be careful with their money and not to trust anyone easily, especially when they talk about social work projects. They say people should always check properly before giving money to anyone.
