Pune Police are talking to doctors and medical experts after a sad incident where a 30-year-old pregnant woman named Tanisha Bhise died. She wasn’t given emergency treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital because her family couldn’t pay the required money. This situation has raised serious questions about how hospitals should treat patients and whether they’re responsible for their actions. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has started an investigation into what happened.
The hospital asked for a payment of Rs 10 lakh before providing treatment, and they didn’t accept the family’s offer of Rs 2.5 lakh. This demand has become a key issue in the investigation. A group of five people, led by Dr. Radhakishan Pawar, has visited the hospital to check things out. Their early findings suggest that the hospital may have been careless in providing important care quickly.
The hospital says that Tanisha had been their patient since 2020 and had risks related to her pregnancy. They claim they told the family to go to a government hospital called Sassoon General Hospital, which would be better for their financial situation.
The Pune Municipal Corporation has sent a notice to the hospital, while another committee is looking into the matter. The investigation showed that the hospital didn’t help the family with the costs, which goes against the rules set by the Indian Medical Council.
Many people are upset about this incident and are protesting for better healthcare access. Tanisha’s husband, Sushant Bhise, has shared his story with investigators. Health Minister Prakash Abitkar is also looking into the hospital’s actions and how emergency medical care should be improved.
A special group called the Maternal Death Review Committee is still investigating what happened before Tanisha died after being moved to another hospital, where she gave birth to twins. This case is making people talk about how to improve emergency medical care for pregnant women, especially those with financial difficulties.
