The Pune Police Department has started a big project to make the city safer. They’ve found 2,576 areas where crime happens a lot and are adding more cameras and improving how they catch criminals. They’re sending police patrols to these areas five times a day, especially where theft and damage often occur.
The police have a new system called MySafe that helps them keep track of around 30,000 criminals. This system lets them know where suspects are in real time, so they can respond quickly and prevent crimes before they happen. This is a smart way of keeping the city safe.
By using technology along with traditional police work, the police have seen good results. They report a big drop in serious crimes, like murder and attempted murder. This shows that their new methods are working well.
The police have also put up 1,500 special CCTV cameras that use artificial intelligence (AI). These cameras help them see what’s happening in crime-prone areas and gather important information for solving cases. They plan to have a total of 2,866 cameras throughout Pune.
Another great tool they’re using is called Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). This helps the police find cars linked to crimes and also helps manage traffic better in busy parts of the city.
