The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has started a new program to check vehicles carefully to keep everyone safe. This decision comes after some serious accidents, including a fire in a vehicle that killed four people.

To make sure vehicles are safe, the RTO has formed special teams that will inspect private transport vehicles in Pune. These teams will check if the vehicles have the right papers, like fitness certificates, insurance, and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. This is to ensure that all transport operators are following the rules.

Transport operators must now regularly check their vehicles and keep all their documents up to date. Each vehicle shouldn't carry more passengers than allowed, according to their RTO permits.

Also, all vehicles must have fire extinguishers, and drivers need to take training on how to handle emergencies and use safety equipment.

The RTO will also check if vehicles haven't been changed in ways that could make them unsafe. For long journeys, two qualified drivers must be present to ensure they can take breaks and drive safely.

Vehicles must also have first-aid kits and clear emergency exits. RTO inspectors will make sure that doors and windows work well so passengers can get out quickly if needed.

If transport operators don't follow these new safety rules, they could lose their permits or face fines. This program aims to keep everyone in Pune safe while using public transport by ensuring all vehicles are well maintained and safe to ride.
