A terrible fire happened in a tempo traveller at Hinjewadi IT Park in Pune. The fire killed four people and hurt ten others. The tempo was carrying workers to their jobs when it caught fire, likely because of an electrical problem. This sad event shows that we need to pay more attention to fire safety in vehicles used for work, especially in busy areas like this tech park.
The fire started in the front of the vehicle and quickly spread to the passenger area. The driver, Janardan Hambardikar, got hurt while trying to help others escape. Five people were badly burned and needed immediate medical help, while others had smaller injuries.
Adding to the tragedy, the emergency exit of the tempo didn't work properly. This meant that some passengers couldn't get out in time. While nine people did manage to escape, four sadly lost their lives in the fire.
Looking at the numbers, about 40% of the people in the tempo got serious injuries that needed hospital care. Another 28.5% had minor injuries that were treated on the spot. This incident is one of the worst transport accidents in the history of Hinjewadi IT Park.
Local officials are now investigating what went wrong. They're checking how well the vehicle was maintained and if it followed safety rules. They want to know what caused the fire and if there are bigger problems in the commercial transport system.
This sad event has led to calls for better safety measures in vehicles, like adding fire safety systems and checking electrical parts regularly. Doctors are taking care of the injured and keeping in touch with their families. Everyone hopes that this will lead to safer travel for workers in the future.
