Shiv Sena Leader Acquitted in Lonavala Murder Case

A Pune court has decided to set free all nine people who were accused in the murder case of a Shiv Sena leader named Rahul Shetty. This case happened in 2020, and the court said there wasn’t enough proof to show that these people were guilty.

The case against the accused was weak because the investigation had many mistakes. For example, the police didn’t collect fingerprints from the weapon used in the murder, and they took a long time to gather important evidence like the victim’s mobile phone. The crime scene was also not properly documented, which made the investigation look unreliable.

Judge DK Anbhule said that because of these issues, he’d to give the benefit of the doubt to the accused.

Rahul Shetty was shot and attacked with an axe on October 26, 2020, at a roadside stall in Lonavala. The police believed that a woman named Deepali Bhilare wanted revenge because Shetty refused to marry her. However, they couldn’t prove this connection or show why the other accused were involved.

The court reminded everyone that to prove someone is guilty, there must be clear and strong evidence. In this case, the prosecution failed to show a clear story of what happened, which hurt their case.

This ruling shows how important it’s for police to follow the right steps and collect good evidence when investigating crimes. The case has raised questions about how serious crimes should be handled and reported.

The decision to acquit the accused has left many wondering about what really happened to Shetty. It also highlights that in our legal system, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty, especially when there isn’t enough evidence.
