A leopard was spotted near the runway at Pune Airport on Monday, making officials take quick action to catch the animal safely. Forest Department workers and animal rescue teams came together to set up special cages to trap the leopard and put up cameras to watch its movements, all while making sure the airport stayed safe and planes could take off and land normally.
The big cat was first seen in the morning, and then again around 8:00 in the evening. This made the rescue teams work faster. They put trap cages in places where they thought the leopard might walk through, and set up cameras to see where it goes and what it does in the airport area.
To help find the leopard, the Forest Department brought special dogs who are trained to follow animal tracks. These dogs helped the teams figure out where the leopard had been walking around the airport. This made it easier for the rescue teams to know where to look while staying safe from the dangerous animal.
The RESQ team (animal rescue experts) worked with Forest Department people to keep watching the area carefully. They made sure everyone was being careful and safe, but also made sure that planes could still fly in and out of the airport without any problems. This showed how people can work to protect both wild animals and keep the airport running at the same time.
The airport officials kept talking to animal experts and security guards throughout the day. They made plans to keep everyone safe – both the people at the airport and the leopard too. This kind of thing is happening more often now because cities are getting bigger and coming closer to areas where wild animals live.
The teams used good equipment and smart people to try to catch the leopard without hurting it. This shows that nowadays, we try to handle such problems in a better way – not by harming the animals, but by safely moving them back to where they should be. This is important because we need to learn how to live safely with wild animals, especially when they come into our cities and important places like airports.
The incident temporarily affected some aspects of Pune’s transportation landscape as authorities coordinated their wildlife management efforts with regular airport operations.
