Two men from Pune lost their lives when terrorists attacked tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran valley, a place known as ‘Mini Switzerland’ because of its beautiful views. The terrorists, who were wearing fake police uniforms, killed 26 people, including Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote from Maharashtra.
The attackers stopped tourists and asked them about their religion before attacking them. This has made many tourists scared, and many have cancelled their trips. Tour companies say their bookings have gone down by almost half, and people who survived the attack are very scared and need help to feel better.
Police and security forces quickly started searching for the terrorists. They closed all roads in and around Baisaran valley. They’ve also put more police officers in tourist areas and made new checking points to keep people safe.
This attack has worried people all over India. It’s the biggest attack on tourists in Kashmir since 2008. Police are trying to find out which terrorist group did this and how they entered an area that was supposed to be safe.
The local government is trying to make tourists feel safe again by putting more police on the streets. But this attack has hurt many local people who earn money from tourism. Experts say tourism money might go down by 30% this year.
The government is helping the families of Jagdale and Ganbote with money and other support. They’re also thinking of new ways to stop such attacks in the future and make tourist places safer.
While Pune has focused on improving its transportation infrastructure, the tragic loss of two of its residents has temporarily overshadowed these developments.
