As Gudi Padwa festival approaches, Pune’s Regional Transport Office (RTO) has seen a big jump in vehicle registrations. Between March 20 and 28, 2025, they processed 10,170 new vehicles. This is a 39% increase compared to 7,336 registrations during the same time last year in 2024. This shows that more people want to buy vehicles, and the RTO is doing a great job to help everyone register their new cars quickly during this festive time.
Looking at the past few years, we can see that people usually buy more vehicles before Gudi Padwa. In 2023, there were 7,706 registrations before the festival, and last year, there were 7,336. This year’s jump to 10,170 shows that people are feeling good about buying vehicles, and the market is doing well in 2025.
In Maharashtra, the number of vehicle registrations is also growing fast, with over 663,680 registrations in the first three months of 2025. Pune added 68,522 vehicles to this number, which is about 10.3% of the total registrations in the state.
The RTO has also started a new system for choice registration numbers, which has received a lot of interest. Within 48 hours, they got 718 applications. This makes it easier for people to get personalized registration numbers for their vehicles.
People like to get their vehicles delivered on March 30, which is the same day as Gudi Padwa. Because of this, car dealers and the RTO are working hard to make sure everything runs smoothly and on time.
The RTO in Pune has managed to handle the increase in registrations very well. They’ve improved their services and technology, which helps them keep up with the demand without making people wait too long. This shows that they’re ready for busy times like the Gudi Padwa festival.
