Pune is famous for its Eye-pleasing places, and Heypuneofficial have recently travelled to most of them, like the Famous Shaniwar Wada, Ramdhara temple, Agha palace, etc.

Like these places, one of Pune’s most famous Eye-pleasing place is Saras Baug! The Garden is Popular for Lord Ganpati Temple, Luscious Greenery, Lotus Pond, Street foods, and Rides.

Built in 1784 in the 18th century, Peshwas used the Saras Baug  as a strategic place against the Britishers and Nizam’s

It is also known that the Peswas would sail in the Saras Baug in the middle of the lake for secretive missions and closed discussions.

They would hire the Africans so they wouldn’t understand a word, and their plans would be safe from the external.

After all the past years, multiple renovations took place, and in 2005, Saras Baug was completed for tourists and visitors.

People offer prayers in Saras Baug, Picnic in the Garden, Play outdoor games in the park, spend quality time, and end their day on a memorable note.

Saras Barg Food Stall

There are two entry gates in Saras Baug: one is the roadside entry (Main entry), and one is from the market side entry (Second Entry)

I entered from the market side from the second entry.

Just inside the entry gate, there are multiple food stalls present, and we Indians are fans of spicy, cheesy, and saucy street foods

As I passed by the food stall area, the smell of Pau bhaji took me off, and I couldn’t resist; I ate four pau and extra spicy bhaji .

Being a foodie, I checked other foods, and my eyes caught the Indian Bhej Puri. I asked the seller to make one for me, and my cravings said, Thank you.

I met a few poor kids asking me for food, so I bought them some rolls, and they were grateful for the treat.

There were garlands (Mala) stalls just nearby. I took sweets – ladoo (Ganesha’s favorite ) and flowers to offer him and moved ahead to Saras Baug Park.

Saras Baug Rides

After the food stall, there are so many rides specially made for the little ones, and it looks like a mini gaming zone.

Children can enjoy rides like mini merigo round, boat rides, and car rides, and they would have incredible fun with the rides. If you have kids, please take them to Saras Baug. They will have a blast.

There is also a tiny soft trampoline where kids can jump and share laughter.

Saras Baug Garden

After the food stall and the kids zone, you can visit the garden area by walking straight, where visitors can be more photogenic and enjoy the Saras Baug Greenary

The Garden is 700 meters long, perfectly maintained, and clean. In the evening, it’s the most crowded place where people can picnic, play sports, and have a wonderful time.

In the Garden, I saw Teenagers forming groups and playing badminton, and I asked them if I could join them. They said why not and Quickfire played two rounds and lived the moment.

There were many families and couples talking and spending quality time, and kids below three years were buying balloons and playing

The Garden goes straight to the Ganpati temple, where visitors have a peaceful time and offer prayers. On its way, you can see a lotus pond, where people can enjoy the scenery and capture videos and photos.

Saras Baug Ganpati History

  • Saras baug Ganpati is the most Ancient temple introduced in 1784 by Shriman Madavrao Peshwa.
  • Hence, there was a Parvati temple; Balaji Bajirao thought of creating an attractive environment by building a lake just near the foothill of the Parvati temple.
  • Later, Nanasaheb Peshwa created a garden in the middle of a lake, and Madavrao Peshwa went on to introduce the idol Gajanan Lord Ganesha ahead of the Garden.
  • In the current time, when the Ganpati festival – Ganesh Chaturthi comes, the temple gets packed with devotees, nearly 8000 people, to offer prayers and get blessings of Ganesha.

Saras baug Temple Visit Experience

Lord Ganesha Is the God of positivity, prosperity, and happiness. Locals say that worshipping Ganesha in this Saras baug temple for a continuous 21 days enriches devotees with all their wishes.

I offered garlands and sweets to Ganesha and, as a prasad, distributed them to people there. The trip ended on a devotional note.

I prayed to lord Ganesha for myself and others to remove people problems and sufferings and shine them with love and happiness.
